Rottweilers are large dogs standing about 24-27 inches at the shoulder with males being larger than females. Females can be from 22 to 25 inches. The weight is about 95-130 pounds and 85-115 pounds accordingly. Generally, the breed is large and needs a lot of exercise. It is recommended to walk the dog daily to cover its exercise needs. The dogs should be given a chance to run free, as it is likely to make them happy and help them stay fit. Since the Rottweiler was bred to work, the breed has a lot of wonderful characteristics. These dogs are enduring and intelligent and can be taught to perform various tasks.
They do well in obedience and guarding and they make good pets because they are rather quiet. People who are thinking about buying a Rottweiler puppy should be aware that the breed does not do well with other pets and may be aggressive. Taking into consideration all these facts, one will understand that the decision to buy a puppy
needs thought over carefully.

Other issues that future Rottweiler owners should know are the disorders found in the breed. These dogs may be prone to hip dysplasia. This condition is found in many large breeds and is usually hereditary. This means that before buying a puppy, one should make sure the breeding stock was tested prior to mating.
